How the pool works, in short
SportStake 8 is a totalisator pool. That means one shared pot, not a fixed price like a bookmaker gives you. Everyone who enters picks a result for each match on the card. Every stake goes into that pot, and the pot is shared between the tickets with the most results right. Nobody knows what a winning ticket pays until the pool closes and the matches finish. The payout depends on the size of the pot and on how many other people picked the same way.
Each match takes one of three picks: a home win, a draw or an away win. Settled pools pay at 13/8, 14/8, 15/8 and 16/8 correct, so a ticket does not have to be perfect to win. This is a game of chance. Most tickets in every pool win nothing.

Eight, with two picks on each: the result of the first half and the result of the second half. That is 16 picks in all, and the winning combination the operator publishes is 16 symbols long. The card is fixed once the pool opens.
